On many 1A teams it is not uncommon for the upperclassmen of a squad to contribute in several roles on offense, defense and special teams. In fact, it is uncommon to see a player shelved into a specific specialty.
It is also uncommon for a player performing in several roles on the gridiron to shine in the multiple areas in which they are asked to perform. During A.L Johnson High School&8217;s win Friday night against John Essex High School, one Eagle tried to soar high at his positions, which paid dividends for his team.
Daniels, a junior wears several hats on the Eagle team. On offense he is a running back, on defense he is a linebacker and he is even used as the punter when the situation calls for it.
Against the Hornets last week, Daniels put on a modest showing at linebacker, with four tackles, and at punter. But on offense and the other side of the ball on special teams he shined.
Daniels scored three touchdowns, all on the ground where he amassed 101 yards on eight carries, running hard. The first two scores of the game where a 2-yard and 25-yard saunter by Daniels into the end zone and his last was a 2-yard run late in the third.
Daniels also had a hand on the third touchdown of the game for the Eagles when he busted up a punt that the Eagles recovered in the end zone for six points.
