Bulldogs, Patriots eerily similar

SWEET WATER &8212; As much as things change, they stay the same.
The coaching staffs of 1A No. 1 Sweet Water High School and No. 6 Linden High School have seen their share of changes since this time in the season last year. Former Bulldogs defensive coordinator Andro Williams went north for the head coaching position at Linden, totally revamping the coaching staff for the Patriots, while Sweet Water head coach Stacy Luker filled the voids in his staff with two coaches from 4A rival, Thomasville High School.
What hasn&8217;t changed is the importance of the two teams&8217; match up on the playoff hopes of the teams in the region.
Noting the achievements of his former team, Williams also said his team is heading into a situation similar to the past several years.
Another interesting change or lack of change, depending on whose sideline you sit on, is the similarity in the systems ran by the two top 10 teams. With Williams arrival at Linden, the Patriots picked up both the 3-4 defense and Wing-T offense ran at Sweet Water, though their will more than likely be subtle changes brought about by the two coaches supporting staffs.
And, along with the proven system, both coaches know they are heading up against some of the best coaching and talent in the area.
Williams said in contrast to the Bulldog depth, his group could be in trouble. He said his injuries woes, which began two weeks ago, have continued to grow, weakening the depth of his lines.
