In their second shutout in two weeks, the first coming against Coffeeville High School 18-0 and the latest over J.F. Shields High School, Marengo County High School has moved to a perfect 3-0 on the season.
As a shutout is no small feat for any team no matter the caliber of the opponent&8217;s skill, two in a row is a large testament to the Marengo High School group&8217;s defense.
In the preseason, Panther coach Scottie Jones said on of the keys to his defensive unit&8217;s success this year would rest on the play and defensive leadership of senior, Kaylos Pritchett. Pritchett led the defensive unit in tackles last year and has continued putting up big numbers this year, especially in last week&8217;s game.
With several players racking up over 10 tackles in the game, Pritchett came out of the game at the top of a unit that put up huge numbers. He lead the team in tackles with 16 in the game, and he took the prize in the sacks category &8212; tying the group high with four face to face visits with the opponent&8217;s quarterback during the game.
