Shirley B. Horne

TUSCALOOSA &8212; Shirley B. Horne, 83, of Greensboro died on Sept. 4, 2007, at his home. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. on Sept. 6, at the Oakwood cemetery with Kirk Funeral Home directing and Carl Koster officiating. Music was provided by Dee Tunnell of Tuscaloosa. Active pall bearers were Emory Barnette, Dan Harrell, Rodney Clary, David Thomas, Clarence Ingram, Joe Foster, Tim Dorris and Blake Kynard. Honorary pallbearers are Dairy Fresh, Hale County Hospital Home Health and Alabama Home Respiratory of Greensboro and Comfort Care Hospice of Demopolis.
Horne enjoyed fishing, football and being with his family. Horne served our country in the Army and was discharged with many honors. He then worked for Black Belt Creamers-Dairy Fresh for more than 20 years. He retired and moved to Tuscaloosa. He just recently moved back to Greensboro in March of this year.
Horne was preceded in death by, his mother, Anna Lake Horne, father, Walter Horne, sister, Annie B. Ingram, brothers, Raymond Horne and Claudie Horne, all of Tuscaloosa.
Surviving Horne are his wife, Ruby Banks Horne, of Greensboro, two daughters, Shirley Harrell and husband, Dan, of Mobile and Lynda Barnette and husband, Emory, of Greensboro, one step-daughter, Angie Thomas and husband, David, of Texas, one sister, Odie Mae Foster of Tuscaloosa and three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
