Player of the week: Maurice Tate

In their game against Sunshine High School, Linden High School compiled over 350 yards on their way to their, 43-6, victory. Almost half of those yards, 153 to be exact, came off of 15 carries by tailback Maurice Tate.
In a penalty-scarred game in which the Patriots gave up 135 yards due to infractions, Tate, a junior, proved a highlight in a strong running offense that dominated the line of scrimmage.
Tate&8217;s counterpart, second leading rusher Darius Fountain, also had over 150 yards rushing, but Tate&8217;s performance was marked not by huge gains over short bursts but, rather, consistency in the trenches.
Tate came through the line in the game head down and feet churning, the epitome of physicality.
His performance not only wore down the Sunshine defense, but also earned him an average of 10.2 yards a carry and two of his team&8217;s trips to the end zone, from one yard and 20 yards out.
