The Bulldogs of Sweet Water started week two a little sluggish against the Akron Rams.
No doubt, still hung-over from their big win last week against the No. 2 ranked Thomasville Tigers. But even with the sluggish start the Bulldogs cruised to a 75-14 win, and amassed 587 total yards.
They rushed the ball 61 times for 472 yards, and senior quarterback Drew Luker threw for 115 yards and two touchdowns. The Bulldogs amassed 27 first downs, while holding the Rams to only 3. The strong Bulldogs defense also held the Rams to negative-60 yards on 15 carries.
The scoring started when Anthony Landrum plunged in from one yard out. Head coach Stacy Luker decided to go for two. Junior Demariquis Williams plunged in from 2 yards out, and the score stood at 8-0.
Senior quarterback Drew Luker added the second score when he connected with Antonio Landrum on a 16-yard touchdown pass. Once again, Luker chose to go for two, and the score stood 16-0.
Akron connected on a 45-yard touchdown pass late in the first quarter, on a missed assignment by Sweet Water&8217;s secondary, making the score 16-6. That was as close as it would get, as the Bulldogs went on a scoring tear by amassing 52 points before the half ended.
From there, Luker substituted freely, and the junior varsity outscored the first string Ram team, 23-7.
Anthony Landrum finished with 118 yards on just 14 carries with 3 touchdowns. Demaraquis Williams finished with 64 yards on six carries and one touchdown. Johnnie the Rocket Lockett finished with 62 yards on just 4 carries.
Other notables: Cordaryl Curtis had an interception and returned it for 40 yards; Terrell Jenkins finished with two sacks and left the Akron quarterback on the field for over ten minutes after a big hit.
The Bulldogs will travel to Sunshine next week to take on the Tigers. Kickoff is set for
7 p.m.
