A.L. Johnson cruises to, 38-6, win

THOMASTON &045; A.L. Johnson High School opened their season with a trouncing of the Coffeeville High School Panthers at home, 38-6.
Most of the scoring action took place in the second half, as the teams were close going to the locker rooms, 8-6, with the eagles leading. The Eagles amassed 13 first downs to the Panther’s five, with 267 yards rushing and 83 passing to Coffeeville High School’s 168 and 30.
The panthers came up with an interception, but the Eagles counteracted the turnover by covering three of the Panther’s five fumbles. Coffeeville got the edge on penalties, racking up eight for 50 yards while the eagles had 11 for 110 yards.
The leading rusher for the Eagles was Alfonso Steele, with nine rushes for 131 yards. The leading tackler for the group was Byron Clarke, with nine and three sacks to boot.
