DEMOPOLIS &8212; Though Sumter County High School has struggled against Demopolis High School for the past decade, Tiger head coach Tom Causey isn&8217;t expecting his group to step into a cakewalk on the road tonight.
Not prone to undue trepidation, Causey has several reasons for going into his group&8217;s first game ready for the Wildcats.
Causey also said the Wildcats were stocked with young players during the past two match ups, players who have now been in the system for a while and now know how to react in game situations.
Causey said, on top of all that, this is the first game, so players on both teams are looking to start off their seasons on a positive note with a win.
With all he knows about his opponent, Causey said there are other areas where he and his staff are in the dark about the Wildcats.
Causey said the group has the same coach, so he expects them to run a similar system to that of last year&8217;s group. He noted he and his staff are also preparing for the unexpected from the Cats, since they lost an intricate part of last year&8217;s offense.
While the group is in the dark about the Wildcats game plan, the Tigers haven&8217;t shown their opponent much of their offense to prepare with after last weeks jamboree against Thomasville.
Causey said the group also made some personnel changes after looking at the team&8217;s performance during the jamboree. He said the Tigers, with the adjustments, will go out against Sumter County High School and run the system they have worked on during the summer and preseason.
