LINDEN &8212; The planning commission met to discuss and vote on an appeal for the zoning for a building located at the intersection of South Main Street and Seventh Avenue West, which is currently zoned B-2 for business use.
Mark Boland of Stoney Creek Cabinetry was required to submit an appeal to locate his cabinetry business on the property. The B-2 zoning outlines the property&8217;s use for: &8220;churches, dry cleaners, laundries and manufacturing incidental to a retail business where articles are sold at retail on the premises.&8221;
Boland said his operation would consist of on-site cabinet manufacturing and an in house showroom of products. Currently, the majority of his business is out of the Birmingham and Mobile areas.
Boland said he plans to do some improvements to the property including new doors and some metal siding work.
After some discussion, the commission voted unanimously, with one member abstaining, to approve Boland&8217;s appeal. The commission&8217;s recommendation will then go to the Linden City Council for their approval.
