Richard Allen Pitner
ANGIER, N.C. &045; Richard Allen Pitner, 85, of Angier, N.C. died at his home on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007. Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 10, 2007 at his home, with military honors.
Pitner was born April 28, 1922 in Martins Ferry, Ohio. Known to most as Captain Red, he was the son of Elsie Ruth Monigold, and stepson of Seth Glenn of Pennsylvania. He served as first lieutenant with the Seventh Army Airdrome Squadron, 13th Air Force as a fighter pilot. He was a decorated veteran, and a father.
He lived on his houseboat at the Demopolis Yacht Basin for several years before moving near his children in N.C.
His wife, Patricia Jo Pitner of Moundsville, W. Va, preceded him in death.
Four children, Charles Barton Pitner, Glenn Edwin Pitner, Gregory Alan Pitner and Rebecca Lynn Flournoy and four grandchildren survive Richard.
