Dolly Speed Ward
DEMOPOLIS &8212; Dolly Speed Ward, 74, died on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Woodhaven Manor Nursing Home.
Services were held at 4 p.m. on Monday, July 30, 2007 at The First United Methodist Church of Demopolis with Dr. Art Luckie officiating. Interment followed at Riverside Cemetery with Kidd-Robbins Funeral directors in charge of the arrangements.
The family received friends from 3 p.m. until the service time at the church Monday at the church.
Ward&8217;s parents, M.C. Speed and Martha Rushing Speed; two sisters, Alliene Griffin and Martha Burnette; three brothers, Morris Speed, Shag Speed, Wilbur Speed all preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter, &8220;Toots&8221; Rogers and husband, Bobby of Greenville; three sons, Jimbo Ward and wife, Amy and Bill Ward and wife, DeDe, all of Demopolis and Joe Ward of Atlanta; three sisters, Cecile Chiles and Ann Bryant, both of Demopolis, Justina Booker of
Whynot, Miss.; one brother, Fred Speed of Demopolis; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Russell Burnette Jr., Bubba Bryant, Jimmy Gross, John Speed, Andy Ward, Bo Tucker, Preston Speed and Andy Chiles.
Honorary pallbearers were former mayors, city council and employees of the City of Demopolis during her years as city clerk of Demopolis.
Carol Wayne Harris
DEMOPOLIS &8212; Carol Wayne Harris, 60, died Sunday, July 29, 2007 at Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.
Services will be 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at Kidd-Robbins Funeral Home Chapel with Justin Paschall officiating. Interment will follow at Demopolis Memorial Gardens with Kidd-Robbins Funeral directors are in charge of the arrangements.
The Harris family will receive friends at the funeral home, Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the service time.
Harris was born in Selma, lived in Demopolis for 30 years and was a member of Canal Heights Church of Christ in Demopolis.
Harris&8217; parents, Charles McCarty Sr. and Ruth Johnson McCarty; two brothers, Charles McCarthy Jr. and Paul McCarty preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of 38 years, John. E. Harris of Demopolis; two sons, John W. Harris of Decatur and Richard C. Harris and wife, Valerie of Huntsville; two grandchildren and three nephews.
Pallbearers will be Freddy Lawrence, Walter Davie, Hess Wright, Austin Lindsey, Ken Sherwood and Daniel Webb.
