LINDEN &8212; One of the main topics of discussion at a work session for the Linden City Council on Thursday was the Grow Linden effort.
Currently, the Council is working with Don Woodard of Alabama State on a new website for the City of Linden. They also hope to get their newly formed youth advisory board involved in the project.
The Council is also working on a beautification effort, which will improve many areas of the city. In the beautification plan, they plan to purchase and erect new signs at all four entrances of the city.
The project may also include new sidewalks, clean-up and tree plantings. Currently, the Council is working on the details with contractors before implementing any work.
The Council also had further discussion of a resolution that was tabled at the last City Council meeting. One of the major issues with the resolution is finding a way to improve both the public and private schools in Linden.
According to Gates, the resolution would only be a starting point for bringing the schools together.
The Council then discussed how schools can have an effect on other aspects of the city, including bringing in new industries.
Other projects that the council discussed were the creation of walking trails inside the city limits and possibly a fishing pond.
