DEMOPOLIS &8212; June 12 will be the date for the second community workshop addressing the comprehensive plan for the City of Demopolis. The Theo Ratliff Center will host an open-house exhibition showing potential elements of the plan from 1:30 to 4 p.m. and 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
Some of the issues addressed in the exhibition will involve zoning and planning concerns, health-related projects, building plans and how to improve blighted areas of the city. Community members are invited to view the exhibition, where they will be given dots to indicate which projects they would like to see the city work on.
The comprehensive plan is based on the growth of Demopolis in the next 20 years.
After the exhibition, these suggestions will be taken into consideration and used to move forward with the future plan of the city.
The exhibition is the work of Larry Watts, a private consultant who has been doing a study on the different department heads and infrastructure of the city in order to assess the needs of the community. Watts has prepared maps, graphs and suggestions based on the input from the first community meeting that was held in April.
