DEMOPOLIS &8212; Playing with the heart that characterizes the young teams efforts the Demopolis Boys Soccer team beat the 6A Hillcrest High School&8217;s group in a resounding 5-1 thumping.
It is the second time thus far this season the team, which is 6-12 on the season, has beaten the team a class above it. Soccer coach Peter Keen said the win comes as no surprise to him due to the efforts the team has exhibited as it has matured during the season&8217;s play.
Keen said, like always, the team played hard during the match. He said what the team lacks in experience it makes up for in the effort it puts into every match it plays.
Keen said the boys team has only played together for two years, which is why it is not as gelled a unit as the girls team. With only eight upperclassmen on the twenty-man roster for the team, the team can only look to develop its play in the following seasons.
On the path to its 5-1 victory, two teammates accounted for all goals for the team. Eleventh grade forward Rob Cooke scored two of the five goals, including the first to lead off the team. Arnold Rogers, another eleventh grand forward accounted for the other three, and had an assist by Cooke.
