Search underway for new coaches

DEMOPOLIS &045; With the exeunt of the football and baseball coaches at Demopolis High School, system administrators are already beginning the selection process to fill the vacated positions.
A committee has already been formed to select the replacements for Doug Goodwin and James Moody. Demopolis High School Principal Dr. Isaac Espy said the group has already received a good amount of response to the position openings.
Espy said there is a good number of individuals interested in the system, and the committee will try to make the coaching hires as quickly as possible. He said the committee is eager to have the new coaches in place as soon as possible so they can become acclimated with the system.
The committee that will take part in the selection process in includes incoming and outgoing superintendents, Dr. Wesley Hill and Lawrence Vickers, high school administrators, Espy and assistant principal Booker Barlow, and board education members, Jim Stanford and Booby Armstead.
Athletic Director and head football coach Goodwin will leave in April to take a position at Russellville High School, and baseball coach and assistant football coach Moody will take a position at his alma mater, Trinity Presbyterian High School in Montgomery.
