James Carl Hill
SELMA &045; James Carl Hill, 68, of Linden died Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at Vaughn regional Medical center in Selma.
Funeral services were held at Calvary Baptist Church on Thursday, March 8, 2007 with the Rev. David Hand and the Rev. Andy Mims officiating. Burial was at New Octagon Cemetery in Linden with O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Linden directing.
Hill was born August 29, 1938, in Tallapoosa County. He was a paper mill supervisor and attended Calvary Baptist Church in Linden.
Hill is survived by his wife Rita R. Hill of Linden, mother Florence Hill of Linden, sons Michael C. (Yvonne) Hill of Linden, Todd B. (Lynn) Hill of Linden and Chris (Deanna) Hill of Linden, daughter Tina Etheredge of Livingston, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Active pallbearers were Reese Barkley, Kenneth Buckalew, Pete Bedsole, James Allen Glass, Alan Sharpe, and Bob Nicholas. Honorary pallbearers were Jack Mitchell, Ronald Thomaston, Dwight Wiggins, Frank Chandler and Jim Heberlin.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 17007 U.S. Highway 43 South, Linden, AL, 36748.
Rachel Caroline Watts
LINDEN &045; Rachel Caroline Watts, 88, of Linden died Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at Marengo Nursing Home in Linden.
Funeral services were held at Linden Untied Methodist Church on Friday, March 9, 2007, with the Rev. Dennis Carlson officiating. The burial was held at Laurel Cemetery in Dixons Mills with O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home of Linden directing.
Watts was born August 11, 1918 in Vineland. She was a retired schoolteacher and a member of Linden United Methodist Church.
Watts was survived by her daughter Carol Watts Ruzic of Prospect, Ky., son in law Ed Ruzic of Prospect, Ky., grandsons Joseph (Hallett) Ruzic of Birmingham and John Ruzic of Prospect, Ky. and granddaughter Sarah Caroline Ruzic of Prospect, Ky. Watts was preceded in death by husband Joseph L. Watts. Active pallbearers were Terry Smyly, Ed Vines, Barry Hunt, James Ruzic, Bill Weaver and John Weaver. Honorary pallbearers were the Marengo Nursing Home staff.
Catherine Doughty Jones
TUSCALOOSA &045; Catherine Doughty Jones of Northport
died Saturday, March 3, 2007, at Northport Druid City Hospital in Northport.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2007 at the Glorious Pentecostal Church in Tuscaloosa.
Burial will follow in the Liberty Cemetery.
The body will lie in state from noon to time of service. Family hour is from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday at the church. Agnew Funeral Home, Greensboro is directing.
