LINDEN &045;Steve Aultman was off of work Wednesday morning and using the spare time to wash his vehicle at the carwash in Linden, when his job interjected itself into his personal time.
Aultman, who is a police officer for the city of Linden, was washing his car around 10 a.m. when he noticed a man in the carwash parking lot smoking what appeared to be a joint. As Aultman assessed the situation, he noticed Linden Police Chief Jeff Laduron’s vehicle coming out of a parking lot close to the carwash.
Laduron said he and Aultman proceeded to walk up on the vehicle to question the individual noticed by Aultman. He said the two were on top of the man before he noticed they were approaching his vehicle.
Laduron said after handcuffing the suspect the two search him and found approximately 5.2 grams of marijuana in his pocket. Laduron then arrested the suspect, Cecil Eugene Marshall, 29, of 602 Adams Dr. in Linden, for possession of marijuana.
Laduron said it shows dedication that his officer polices 24 hours a day. He said it was a case of Marshall being in the wrong place doing the wrong thing, and him and Aultman being in the right place at the right time.
