Gov. appoints Hale Co. tax collector

GREENSBORO &045; After 16 years of service in the tax collector’s office of Hale County, Andretta Skipper has been appointed by Gov. Bob Riley to the tax collector position.

Skipper has worked in the tax collector’s office since 1991 and has been involved in the various facets of the job for some time. She said she is excited to receive the title from the governor.

Skipper said the position has been vacant since the resignation of Charlsey &8220;Tott&8221; Tubbs in April of last year. She said she has been performing the duties of the position in all areas except in name.

During her time with the office Skipper has served as the personal property clerk from 1991-1996. In this position she assessed personal property for businesses, corporations and public utilities. Since 1996, she has served as the chief clerk for the office.

Skipper said she has been running the office since Tubbs’ retirement, she said she will continue to do so now that she has been appointed to the tax collector position. She said serving the people of Hale County would be her number one priority.
