DEMOPOLIS – After announcing the Demopolis Police Department did have a suspect in the Aug. 10 shooting that sent two people, a 45 year-old man and a 52 year-old female, to Brian W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital and then via helicopter to DCH Medical Center in Tuscaloosa for treatment, the DPD opened a second, and completely different, investigation at the same house as the shooting Thursday.
“From what I understand someone called the investigators and said that people are selling things from out of the house,” said Jeff Manuel, Chief of Police for the city of Demopolis. “We went back over there and boarded the house up.”
Despite the crimes happening at the same address, they are being treated as two completely different investigations.
“For the shooting, we do have a suspect and are anticipating making an arrest,” said Manuel.
Since the shooting sent both people to the hospital, the suspect will be charged with a felony.
According to Manuel, the DPD also has named a suspect for the incident of selling crime-scene souvenirs.
Both incidences are still under investigation by the Demopolis Police Department.
