Hero – looking for help

Nearly 11 months ago, Hurricane Katrina came ashore in the Gulf Coast flooding most of Louisiana and Mississippi. To this day, some evacuees are still struggling to get things back in order.
HERO Housing Resource Center in Greensboro is looking to help.
“Some people are still struggling,” said Kelley Sanders, the Community Outreach Coordinator for the HERO organization.
Sanders is gathering information from those struggling in Greene, Pickens and Hale Counties.
Those looking to report problems can call the HERO HRC at 334-624-0842 or drop by their office located at 1120 Main Street in Greensboro.
According to the Web site, located at www.ruralhome.org, HERO is a nonprofit corporation located in Washington D.C., and has been helping local organizations build affordable homes in rural America since 1971. The Housing Assistance Council, which governs HERO maintains a special focus on high-need groups and regions, namely, Indian Country, the Mississippi Delta, farmworkers, the Southwest border colonies and Appalachia.
