LINDEN &045; Bruce Allen Gates of Magnolia was arrested for attempting to entice a child to have sex and for distributing/selling drugs to a minor.

The Marengo County Sheriff’s Department arrested Gates on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Marengo County Sheriff Jesse Langley that Gates is still being held in the Marengo County Detention Center until bond can be set by a judge.

Langley said that the victim was a 15-year-old male. He said that he didn’t know that the drug charges were involved with the enticement charges but that the minor reported both actions to the department. Langley said that to his knowledge Gates was attempting to distribute or sell crack-cocaine.

Langley said that the incident was reported to the department the same day that the arrest was made. He said that to his knowledge Gates was a friend of the family of the boy who has brought the accusations against him.

Langley said that the time and date for the bond appearance is up to the judge. Gates resides at P.O. Box 1205, 1401 Arlington Rd. in Magnolia.
