The West Alabama Preparatory School softball team
found the going tough this weekend as they hosted an extremely tough field for their weekend tournament.
The very young Lady Titan team dropped four games, despite hitting the ball well at times.
In game one Friday, the Lady Titans played their best game of the series dropping a close 12-11 decision to Clarke Prep.
Lindsey Bedsole took the loss on the mound allowing seven hits, while striking out six.
The Lady Titans were led at the plate by Bedsole, Emily Willingham and Kim Wilkinson, who were 3 for 6.
The close game took a toll on the Lady Titans as they were unable to keep up with a fresh Jackson Academy squad in their second game of the day falling 19-2.
Willingham took the mound for the Lady Titans throwing three innings before Savannah Swinney took over. Bedsole then closed the game.
The three combined to allow 11 hits and seven walks, while striking out three.
Bedsole, Willingham and Allison Elmore all had one hit in the game.
In their first game Saturday, the Lady Titans were faced with a strong Marengo Academy squad and steadily dropping temperatures before falling 9-1.
Bedsole again took the mound, combining with Swinney and Bedsole to allow five hits and four walks with two strikeouts.
Pickens was up next for the Lady Titans, but again the bats were silent in a 13-1 loss.
Willingham, Swinney and Bedsole had the Lady Titans only hits in the game.
West Alabama Prep’s final game of the day was their toughest of all as they fell 27-7 to Southern.
Walks hurt the Lady Titans as their pitching gave up nine on the day.
But, there were some bright spots at the plate. Willingham swung the bat extremely well for WAP, going 2 for 3 on the day.
Elmore and Emily Willingham also added a hit.
