Pritchett named Miss Alabama Southern

MONROEVILLE, AL- Whitney Pritchett, of Thomasville, was crowned Miss Alabama Southern 2005, on October 20, at Nettles Auditorium on the Monroeville campus of Alabama Southern.
Other finalists were: 1st runner-up, Kaci Luker, of Monroeville; 2nd runner-up, Amy Byrd, of Leroy; and Miss Congeniality was Monica Murphy, of Monroeville.
Miss Pritchett is a graduate of Thomasville High School and is currently a freshman at Alabama Southern Community College and serves as an Alabama Southern Ambassador. Upon graduating from Alabama Southern, Miss Pritchett plans to transfer to the University of Alabama to pursue a degree in Pediatrics.
Miss Pritchett performed a piano piece for her talent. She lists piano as one of her hobbies along with photography, scrap booking, sports and playing with children. She also serves the community by volunteering in the Radiology department at Thomasville Hospital, volunteers at local high school athletic events, and volunteers at Thomasville Elementary School and for the Salvation Army.
Contests participate in several categories of the competition, including casual wear, talent, formal wear, interview, and question and answer sessions.
The objective of the Miss Alabama Southern Competition is to bring quality female students together from all five of our campuses to compete for the highly respectful title.
In this competition, we are looking for someone who expresses the same qualities and goals of our college.
In order to be eligible to participate in the competition a contestant must fulfill the following requirements: full-time student, minimum 2.5 cumulative G.P.A., two recommendations from faculty and personal references and complete an interview process.
Other contestants were Leigh Salter, of Monroeville; Ebony Campbell, of Thomasville; and Jamie Watkins, of Bellville.
