DEMOPOLIS – In order to promote breast cancer awareness, the Demopolis Curves for Women invites female citizens and breast cancer survivors to a Breast Cancer Awareness reception and open house.
The event will be held at the fitness center on Highway 80 Monday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m.
“We have a girl’s night out every month and this month since its breast cancer awareness month, we’re doing it here,” Curves manager, Cindy Reeves, said. “And we’re inviting our members and women in the community, especially those who are survivors, to join us.”
According to Reeves, there will be food, door prizes and “a lot of fun.”
“We are also hoping to have a candlelight ceremony in memory of the ones who have gone and the ones who survived,” she said. “We want people to come out and honor those who are still alive and those who have passed.”
The program is free and all women who are survivors will be honored.
“We’ve also been running a special for the entire month,” Reeves added. “If you bring proof of a recent mammogram, you can join without a service fee.”
Reeves said women should come out to strengthen their knowledge of breast cancer and become more aware of what they need to do to prevent it.
