DEMOPOLIS- The Demopolis Rotary Club has kicked off their annual Coats for Kids campaign and announced their Demopolis drop off points. Rotary member Jason Windham said the program, which will run through Nov. 11 is set up through Rotary International and allows the club to make a difference in the lives of local families.
“We work with Demopolis High School to set up 10 specific boxes,” Windham said. “We have students who take the boxes to local businesses who can return them to Rotary of Holiday Cleaners.”
The coats that are returned will be taken to Holiday Cleaners where they will be mended, restored and cleaned.
At the end of December the Rotary Club will host a Christmas Party where the coats will be given to students in kindergarten through fifth grades from U.S. Jones, Westside Elementary School and John Essex School. The schools will pick 10 to 15 children to receive the coats. Additional coats will be given to other local charities such as Harriet’s House.
Drop off points for this years Coats for Kids program will include: Radio Shack, Omni Sporting Goods, Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital, Wal Mart, Food World, The Perfect Touch, Parr’s Chevron, Robertson Bank, Banktrust, Colony Office Products and Holiday Cleaners.
Monetary donations as well as new coats will also be welcome.
