Gabrielle Essex has been selected by the Alabama Sports Writers Association as one of three statewide nominees for Class 4A Girls Player of the Year.

Essex will be recognized at a luncheon sponsored by The Birmingham News and Birmingham Post-Herald tomorrow at the Norton Campus Center on the campus of Birmingham-Southern College.
