A new face will be joining the Demopolis City School Board at their nest meeting. Jim Stanford was voted to take on the seat left vacant by Mike Randall.
Randall, who no longer qualified because he moved outside of city limits, stepped down from the board and Stanford gained a majority vote from the Demopolis City Council to become his replacement.
Demopolis School Superintendent Dr. Wesley Hill said he was excited by the news that Stanford would be joining them.
“I have known Mr. Stanford all my life,” Hill said. “He went to school with my children and I remember his dad and his family very well.”
Hill said he knew Stanford would step in and immediately be a positive addition to the board.
“I think Jim will be an excellent selection,” Hill said. “I have done business with him through the years and I know he is a good choice.”
Hill added he was very pleased someone as qualified and interested in the city’s educational system was stepping in. Hill said parents could rest easy knowing the vacancy would be filled by another concerned citizen.
“I don’t have any reservations about welcoming Jim aboard,” Hill said. “I know he will do a great job.”
