Linden Mayor Pat Vice continues to see progress in his recovery effort. Vice, who has undergone two surgeries to remove cancerous tumors from his brain and lung, has taken each in stride. Vice is currently undergoing therapy in Birmingham to keep the progress going.
Linden City Clerk Pam Duke said Vice has continued to make strides and was recently home to visit.
“He is doing pretty well,” Duke said. “He came home for the weekend and I think he will go back soon to undergo some more radiation for the tumor on his brain. I think he will go back next week and it will wrap it up.”
City Administrator Cheryl Hall said she spoke with Vice and he was in good spirits as usual.
“I talked to him this morning and he seemed to be doing well,” Hall said. “He will be going back to Birmingham for some more treatments and then he will come home for a couple of weeks before they start treatments on his lung.”
Hall said a full recovery would take a lot of work and prayers, but Vice has proven to be up to the task. She said Vice still takes a very active role in the city and is sure to check in to make sure everything is up to par.
“It is a long road to recovery, but he is doing well,” Hall said. “He still calls to check in and see how things are going. He will know more about how things are going in a month or so.”
Vice’s journey began last year when a malignant tumor was discovered on his brain. The tumor was removed, but another growth was discovered on Vice’s lung. A second procedure at Birmingham’s Carraway Hospital saw this tumor removed as well.
Currently, Vice and his doctors are working to get him to a full recovery.
