Joda Dennis Evans

Seattle,Wash.

Joda Dennis Evans, 80, passed away Dec. 19, 2004 in Seattle,Wash. A WWII Army Air Force Veteran and German P.O.W., Dennis lived in Demopolis for 25 years and was employed by Taylor Veneer Company. Upon retiring he and his wife moved to Havana, Fla., and later to a retirement village in Dowling Park, Fla.

Survivors include his wife Elizabeth of Dowling Park, Fla.; son Gary Evans of Newbern; daughter Peggy McNamara (Husband Richard) of Pocomoke City, Md.; granddaughters Betts Hooks (Husband Richard) of Laurel, Md., Mary Conn of Columbiana, Melissa Stephens (Husband Gary) of Jacksonville, Fla.; and two great-grandchildren Jordan and Jessica Stephens.

Arrangements are being handled by Flintoft’s Issaquah Funeral Home in Issaquah, Washington

Cephus Johnson of St. Louis, Mo. passed on Dec. 20, 2004 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004 at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Calvin Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state from noon until time of service. Agnew Funeral Home of Greensboro is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hattie Cunegan of Greensboro passed on Dec. 24, 2004 at UAB Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Bay Spring A.M.E. Church, with the Rev. David Ryans officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Herman Cemetery. The body will lie in state from 10 a.m. until time of service. Agnew Funeral Home of Greensboro is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Minnie (Pie) Grice of Greensboro passed on Dec. 23, 2004 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary A.M.E. Church, with the Rev. Paul Sanders officiating. The body will lie in state from 12:30 p.m. until time of service.
