LIVINGSTON &045;&045; UWA administrators are awaiting word that the university’s probationary status has been lifted today by the national accrediting agency.
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools will rule today whether to lift sanctions imposed a year ago against UWA and Auburn University, resulting in academic probation at both schools.
The announcement should come about 11 a.m. according to UWA President Richard Holland.
Holland has been in Atlanta since Saturday attending the four-day SACS conference and told The Times on Friday he was "confident we’ll get good news."
According to a preliminary report released last month from SACS, Holland’s confidence is well-grounded.
