Staff Report
As police directed traffic around a fender-bender at the intersection of Cedar Street and Jackson Avenue, emergency personnel were responding to a much more serious accident on Alabama Highway 80 East, about a mile east of Demopolis.
The accident, which occurred at about 3:30 p.m., involved at least one vehicle, a red Ford Bronco that had flipped at least once. Though several people were in the truck at the time of the accident, only one appeared to be seriously injured. Two children with scrapes and bruises left the scene with a relative after another relative had been loaded into the ambulance.
Onlookers gathered around the family members who had arrived on the scene to comfort and console while members of the Tombigbee Emergency Medical Services worked on one of the occupants, stabilizing her with a neck brace and back board.
Because police were still working the scene, no information about the vehicle’s occupants and their condition, or what caused the accident, could be obtained before press time. There did not, however, appear to be any fatalities.
