The family of Ruby Lee Edmonds would like to express their gratitude and appreciation for all of the many kindnesses extended to their mother. Mrs. Edmonds came to live with her daughter, Lynn Brasfield, after a diagnosis of terminal cancer. Over the past nine months, many people were involved both in her care and in the support of our family.

Dorothy Winn and Mary Birl became members of the family as they cared for our mom everyday. Mom loved them both dearly, as do we all. Tombigbee Home Health Care Services nurses Michelle Etheridge, Jane Singleton, Brenda Sigler, Jeannie Manley, Jami Wright, Shelly Whiddon, and Pamela Robinson made numerous visits to the house to evaluate and assist in Mom’s care. They were always there, whenever Mom needed them. Physical therapist Skibo Holman devoted many hours to our mom under difficult circumstances. Aides Latasha Byrd, Dianne Johnson, and Eola Yarbrough were always there to help make Mom more comfortable.

The expert medical support from Dr. Chu and Dr. Curtis enabled our mom to be with us much longer than we imagined when we began this journey. The Rev. Aaron Raulerson of Trinity Episcopal Church was always available, and Mom so appreciated and looked forward to his visits.

A very special thank you to Southern Care Hospice nurses and social workers who joined our family when it was evident that there was little time remaining. Katrina Stapp Sue Barnes, Syndie Johnson, Sheila Adams, Angela Stokes, and Libby Hughes stayed with Mom and supported us. Their compassion and skill enabled all of us to be at peace during the difficult final days and hours.

Our deepest appreciation to each and every one of you. We will always be grateful for your many skills, your devotion to our mom, and your care and concern for our family. Our mom was a very special lady to all of us and each of you played an important part in her life these last months and days. This has been a very difficult journey, and one that we could not have made without you by our sides. Thank you.
