Deputy State Fire Marshal Greg Wilkey has described the fire at the Pink Palace adult entertainment store outside Boligee as of “suspicious origins.” His finding for the cause of the Feb. 5 morning fire is officially “undetermined.”
Wilkey visited the site the day of the fire, said Greene County Sheriff Johnny Isaac. He talked to one of the employees of the business and took samples back to the state fire marshal’s lab.
He is hoping to speak to the owner of the business.
Isaac has also called the fire “suspicious,” particularly with the controversy that surrounds the adult business.
The fire marshals will continue to work with the sheriff and the District Attorney’s office to determine the cause of the fire that gutted the Boligee business, said Richard Montgomery, acting state fire marshal.
Sheriff Isaac is also involved in a parallel investigation to determine whether the Greene County Commission should grant a specialty license to the business if the company, Choice Freedoms LLC of New Orleans, decides to reopen the store.
