UWA women continue tear

VALDOSTA, GA- Every West Alabama player that saw action scored as the Tigers traveled to Valdosta State (14-3, 3-2 GSC) and picked up an impressive 82-52 win on Saturday night. Veronica Lee led the Tigers with 19 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the field and 6-of-6 shooting from the free throw line.
West Alabama shot 42.9 percent in the first half while limiting the Lady Blazers to 25 percent shooting, as the Tigers ran out to a 33-17 halftime advantage. The Tiger offense only got better in the second frame, connecting on 19-of-33 shots from the field (57.6 percent) en route to scoring 49 second-half points.
Yolanda Thomas scored 15 points on 7-of-13 shooting, while teammate Tausha Evans continued her solid play with 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the floor. Margo Porter contributed six points and a team-high six assists to go along with four boards.
Danielle Hernandez led VSU with 13 points, but was limited to 4-of-19 shooting from the field (3-of-15 from three-point range). Traci Newton also scored 13 points, while teammate Amber Daniels added nine points and six rebounds.
The Tigers move to 13-4 overall and 5-0 in GSC play. West Alabama returns to action on Monday when they travel to West Florida for a 5:30 p.m. tip off.
