Livingston–The Livingston Police Department has arrested Charles Edward Allen 17, of Livingston for the Rape of a 59-year-old woman in Livingston. The victim reported around 8 p.m. on the 13 of January someone knocked on her front door, she opened the door and Allen went inside her residence.
While inside Allen raped the victim and then left the residence, neighbors in the area identified Allen as being in the area wearing what the victim said the suspect was wearing. When officers picked Allen up he still had on the same clothes he did when he committed the crime. Allen was placed in the Sumter County Jail; his bond was set at $30,000.
Livingston Police Chief Ashley Welborn said that Allen will be trying as an adult and is being charged with first degree Rape.
“With the help of the neighbors, we were able to apprehend Allen,” Chief Welborn said.
Allen currently sits in jail because he hasn’t been able to make his bond yet.
Chief Welborn refused to comment on wither or not Allen had a prior criminal record.
He also said that the victim didn’t substance any injuries except for those common with a Rape case.
This is the first Rape case that the Livingston police have been involved in all year said Chief Welborn.
When asked about the neighbor where this crime was commented Chief Welborn said, “It is just a local neighbor where things like this don’t happen.”
Due to this crime the Livingston Police Department will up its patrols around the city.
