Mrs. Ellen Braxton, 97, of Demopolis, died Thursday, June 6, 2002, at Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital.

Services were held Thursday, June 13, 2002, at Eastern Star Baptist Church with Rev. Carlton Hogue officiating.

Burial was held in Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Larkin and Scott Funeral Directors.

She was preceded in death by four children, Queenie Collins, John Braxton, Patsy Moore and Charlie Braxton, and two grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Barbara A. James, Mary Green, and Hobart (Gerogianna) Braxton, all of Demopolis, Rosa (Joe) Hunter of Uniontown, Robert (Earnestine) Braxton of Bessemer, Haywood (Inez) Braxton of New York, N.Y., and William (Beatrice) Braxton of Bronx, N.Y.; a son-in-law, Will Moore Sr. and a daughter-in-law, Anne Braxton, both of Demopolis; 34 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends.
