The Demopolis Academy Generals look forward to a more promising season on the diamond than last year’s.
Both the boys and the girls squads hope to improve their records from last year with youth leading the way.
Boys veteran head coach, Walker Reynolds, said the Generals have about 15 games on the roster this year.
With five pitchers and only one returning senior, Reynolds said he will be relying on Chris Malone for leadership.
years now &045; four good years," Reynolds said.
Reynolds himself is returning to coaching after a year off.
He worked with the team during the 97-98 season and then took a year off, he said. Coach and headmaster Sid Atkins filled the position during his absence.
The team will face Warrior Academy in Forkland on Friday for its first game of the season.
As for the Lady Generals, they have new challenges to face from the AISA.
Previously, the team only had to deal with slow pitch, but due to changes in AISA regulations, fast pitch ball has been added for the first time this year.
Holley also has a young squad with most of her team consisting of seventh and eighth graders.
The team recorded no wins last year but Holley is optamistic for the future.
